Create and run polls

A poll lets you gather quick input inside an announcement — a single question or several, with single- or multiple-choice answers.

Add a poll

When composing an announcement, turn on Attach a poll.

Enter a question (up to 500 characters).
Add options — between 2 and 20 per question, each up to 255 characters. Use Add option for more, and remove any option once you have more than two.
Turn on Allow multiple selections if voters may pick more than one option for that question.
Use Add question for more questions (up to 10). The poll-wide settings below apply to every question.

Poll settings

Anonymous poll — votes can’t be changed once cast, and no one can see who voted for what.
Show results to voters — choose when voters see the tally:
- Before voting — always visible.
- After voting — visible once the person has voted (the default).
- After poll closes — hidden until the poll closes.
Who can see who voted — on a named (non-anonymous) poll, choose whether the per-option voter list is visible to HR / moderators only (the default) or to Everyone.
Closes at — an optional date and time. When it passes, the poll closes automatically. Leave it empty to keep the poll open until someone closes it.

How voting works

Readers vote from the announcement.

Pick one option (single-choice) or several (Select all that apply for multiple-choice), then select Vote.
If results are visible to you, picking an option shows a live +1 preview — the count and percentage update as you choose, before you submit. This preview only appears when the tally is already visible to you, so hidden results never leak early.
When results are hidden, the poll shows when they’ll appear — for example Results visible after you vote or Results visible after the poll closes.

Changing a vote

On a named poll you can Retract vote while the poll is open, then vote again — re-voting replaces your previous choice.
On an anonymous poll your vote is final — it can’t be changed or retracted.

Seeing who voted

On a named poll, View voters shows who chose each option and when. It’s available to moderators and the author, and to everyone else only when the poll is set to let Everyone see voters and results are visible to them.

Close or re-open a poll

The author and moderators can Close voting now. A poll that was closed manually can be re-opened with Re-open voting. A poll with a close time set also closes on its own when that time passes.
