Calendar
The calendar is a shared month view of your team’s time: who’s on leave, whose birthday is coming up, which days are public holidays, and which days are your days off. Find it under People → Calendar in the sidebar.
What’s on the calendar
Section titled “What’s on the calendar”Each day can carry up to four kinds of marker. The key below the grid lists what each colour means:
- Leave (blue) — someone is away on approved leave. Requests that are still pending don’t appear until they’re approved.
- Birthday (violet) — an employee’s birthday. Only the day is shown, never the year.
- Holiday (rose) — a public holiday from your organization’s holiday list.
- Off day (yellow) — a non-working day in your working week.
Switch between month and compact views
Section titled “Switch between month and compact views”Use the Month / Compact toggle in the top-right:
- Month shows a full grid with each day’s holidays, birthdays, and leave spelled out inside the cell.
- Compact shows a smaller month picker with coloured dots, next to the details for the day you’ve selected — handy on a phone.
Choose whose events you see
Section titled “Choose whose events you see”When you can see more than your own team, a scope toggle appears in the header:
- My department — people in your department.
- My reports — the people who report directly to you (managers only).
- Everyone — the whole organization.
Which options you get depends on your role and your organization’s leave- visibility setting. If only one applies to you, no toggle is shown.
Open a day’s details
Section titled “Open a day’s details”Select any day to see what’s happening on it in the panel beside (or below) the grid:
- Holidays — the holiday’s name.
- Birthdays — each person, linked to their profile.
- On leave — each person, their leave type, and whether it’s an AM or PM half-day.
When nothing is scheduled, the day simply reads “Nothing scheduled.”
Your off days
Section titled “Your off days”The yellow off-day shading follows your own working week — the pattern from your assigned shift, or a personal work-pattern override if you have one. A colleague on a different shift may have different days shaded, so the off days you see are always the ones that apply to you.
Move between months
Section titled “Move between months”- Use the back and forward arrows either side of the month name to step between months.
- Select Today to jump straight back to the current month and date.
Who sees what
Section titled “Who sees what”Two organization settings control the people-related markers for everyone who isn’t in HR:
- Birthdays — turn the calendar’s birthdays on or off under People → Settings → General.
- Leave — choose whether leave is visible to everyone, limited to a person’s own department, or hidden entirely, under Leave → Settings.
Holidays and off-day shading always show. HR always sees birthdays and leave, whatever these settings are.
